This February, we’re inviting our hapori to join us for Sharing Our Spaces: Gardening to Welcome Wildlife, a hands-on workshop at Kai Rotorua exploring how our gardening practices can nourish both people and the wildlife we share our environment with.
Saturday 7 February 🕙 10.00am – 12.30pm
This workshop is a relaxed, hands-on session in the māra, facilitated by Skye Smale. Together, we’ll explore permaculture principles and biodiversity-aware gardening, looking at how thoughtful planting and garden practices can support healthy soil, healthy kai, and thriving ecosystems.
You might find yourself learning about reading the landscape over time, maintaining soil fertility without store-bought inputs, choosing multi-functional plants, avoiding pesticides, and understanding how different plants invite (or discourage) local wildlife. We’ll explore ways to support pollinators, birds, reptiles, and even our nocturnal neighbours, the pekapeka-tou-roa (long-tailed bats).
☕ Kai & Manaakitanga
Refreshments will be provided, with tea and coffee available throughout the workshop.
A light lunch will be shared together.
